A MESSAGE FROM JUDGE CHRIS WILMOTH

Dear Dallas County Voters,

I am proud to be seeking re-election as Judge of Dallas County Probate Court 2.  Service has been at the core of my work as a professional attorney, community volunteer and public servant.  It bring strong skills, a solid work ethic and a genuine commitment to service to the courthouse every day, and I ask for your support in the 2014 campaign.

I have worked on highly complex cases where the stakes reached the billions, and I have handled more discrete matters involving hundreds of thousands of dollars. These cases required me to learn such disparate legal disciplines as bankruptcy, securities, employment and workers' compensation law in both federal and state court.

Before I was elected in 2010, I maintained an active pro bono practice. Among other things, I helped grandparents obtain legal custody of the grandchildren they were raising. I wrote wills, living wills and trust instruments for elderly clients, and I provided advice on corporate governance to a nonprofit.  I also clerked for a federal judge and completed externships with the SEC and the FTC.  Over the years before taking office, I held over 20 free legal clinics throughout Dallas County and provided over 500 living wills and medical power of attorney documents to citizens free of charge.

The probate courts are important.  They help to ensure that our wishes are carried out after we are gone.  Nothing could be more important.  As your Dallas County Probate Court Judge, I deeply respect the trust you have placed in me, and I take my work very seriously.  I ask for your vote as I seek re-election.  Thank you.

Sincerely,

Judge Chris Wilmoth
